Soundscapes: New Works by Karina Wisniewska
by Karin Weber Gallery
Location: Karin Weber Gallery
Artist(s): Karina WISNIEMSKA
Date: 16 Oct - 13 Nov 2015

Karin Weber Gallery is pleased to present Soundscapes: New Works by Karina Wisniewska.Opening Thursday 15 October, the exhibition will highlight the richly expressive works of an artist influenced by the concept of reverberation. For Wisniewska, the world is a sounding board on which personal expression and the universal meet and harmonize. And it is here, says the artist, where the material and spiritual have reciprocal influence: “The immaterial enriches the visual by layering on additional dimensions. And in so doing, a new path emerges which embraces eternity and new realities.”

Working from sketches or free form, the artist applies rich and radiant color to the canvas in order to achieve the luminosity and lush layering effect achieved in her signature ‘soundscapes’. Within the confines of the canvas, she suggests a meditative journey which the eye must travel: high-voltage punches of color attract the viewer’s attention, while a rich stream of pigment adds depth and complexity. These works are meant to be seen and felt.

About the Artist

Born in Venice to Polish-Swiss parents, Karina Wisniewska enjoyed a truly cosmopolitan childhood and an early career as an accomplished and internationally recognized concert pianist. She turned to painting as a full-time passion and commitment in 2000, when an accident placed her on a new and equally rewarding artistic journey. Says Wisniewska, “I was determined to forget what I had practiced in order to allow myself to flow freely and to cultivate a new momentum in a new medium.” She currently lives and works in Ennetbaden near Zurich in Switzerland.

Wisniewska’s works are widely collected and exhibited at art galleries and art fairs around the world. They can be found in the collections of the Musée Abbatiale de Payerne, Switzerland, Museum zu Allerheiligen, Schaffhausen, Switzerland, the Espace de l'Art Concret, Mouans-Sartoux, France, and corporate collections including Credit Suisse, UBS, and VP Bank, Vaduz. Important private collectors include Lord Norman Foster amongst many others.
