Grotto Fine Art kicks off the New Year with a one-woman exhibition of Bouie Choi, an award-winning painter from the Chinese University of Hong Kong . The title of the exhibition "Comfort Terrace" borrowed from a real place in Hong Kong, referring to good health and fortune. The relationship between auspicious symbols and words and the local populace fascinated the artist and subsequently gave her inspiration for a new series of works based on such symbolism. Choi feels connected with the fact that many Hong Kong people feel comforting or blessed by simply selecting auspicious names. In addition to paintings, Choi will feature a short length video that centers on the idea of "bringing good fortune". One of the works explores, as an artist, how she could comfort and change her "fortune" and "destiny".
