Grotto Fine Art is proud to present Fiona Wong Lai-ching: Prosaic Glow, the first solo exhibition of the acclaimed Hong Kong sculptor at Grotto since 2007. Featuring a new series of works inspired by floral fantasy, Wong strives to explore the cultural sensitivity of patterns and senses under fantastic light installations. Using porcelain and Japanese black clay, Wong meticulously modeled her pieces into garment composition according to life size scale. Particular attention is paid to the works’ intricate patterns, the relationship between lightness and heaviness and the allegorical references pertinent to the origin of the design. Wong’s Prosaic Glow refers to the beauty of the mundane, and particularly that from floral origins.
