To express the sentiments and thoughts about ever-changing human conditions by artistic creation, the mode of presentation should be converted constantly. Facing the environmental and social problems in reality, either they are hidden, unsolved or ignored, the scenes in the series of “Some Landscapes”, suggesting the imagery of space, are not the interpretation of landscapes in our real world, but a kind of subjective mental excursion and an inner landscape in one’s mind.
In this series, the dense texture and delicate details of color patches and lines, occupied most of the background areas, demonstrating not only the visual elements but also refer to some kinds of generalized images: the former is the shards of glass or paper and the latter is the bamboo scaffolding or sticks. They are collapsing and crushing, seemed to be unsettled. The atmosphere is hustle and impetuous whether in the brilliant or dark color tones. The floating and drifting conditions implicate the phenomenon of entanglement and disillusionment. The depiction of mountains and birds suggests the hints related to our reality and gives the feeling of solidity. Besides, the contrast between different scale, for example, the huge mountain and tiny birds, produced tension in composition. These integrated scenes, elusive and ambiguous, arouse conflicts and fantasies. If an intensive mental space makes other temporal and spatial contexts all possible, the complementary “Parallel universes” might be a sunny paradise full of birds and flowers.
