Dr. Kan Kit Keung's new exhibition features a body of works focused primarily on the theme of moving water. Decpitions of roaring waterfalls and raging rivers perfectly demonstrate the artist's mastery of traditioanl Chinese ink painting, or more specifically, the clever use of monochromatic composition and unpainted spaces. Executed on CHinese rice paper before mounted on watercolor paper, each work stands out with the unique texture of a canvas and at the same time with the translucency of an ink work. Dr. KAn's paintings are unmistakably CHinese in technique, yet thoroughly western in concept and composition.
