Grotto Fine Art requests the honor of your presence at a special group exhibition Looking At, Looking Back: A Hong Kong Experience, to celebrate the grand opening of our new branch – Grotto Projects. Featuring a group of Hong Kong artists including Caroline Cheng, Chow Chun-fai, Kevin Fung, Ho Siu-kee, Joey Leung, Lee Man-sang, Wilson Shieh, and Fiona Wong, the exhibition aims to address the different dialogues and exchanges between lovers, acquaintances or strangers as presented by the artist’s unique experience of living in Hong Kong.
Living in a dense city like Hong Kong, it is inevitable for one to experience close encounter with other people. On the crowded streets, in a packed lifts, or simply in a restaurant in Central, we look closely at each other on a daily basis. Our private space is shared with strangers all the time. But while we seldom take the time to ponder upon the other person’s relevance, we share interesting moments when one is looking at and being looked back. Looking At, Looking Back is an exhibition of this interesting dialogue, between two persons, related or not, in a compromising dialogue and sometimes positions. Such simple gesture provides personal perspective and inspiration for this group of local artists who found love, betrayal and intrigue from a common dialogue we often forget.
