Grotto Fine Art takes great pleasure in presenting Lucille Lo: Plurality , the first one-woman exhibition of this well-known Hong Kong artist in ten years. A former traditional Chinese painter, Lo ventured into oil painting in recent years in search of a more personal expression. Featuring over fifteen paintings, the exhibition consists of landscapes, cityscapes and conceptual works, representing the most comprehensive display of the artist's work in a decade.
Due to the specific cultural and historical circumstances, Hong Kong culture has been associated with a wide range of symbolism and icons in many different ways. Vigorous lifestyle, the city's governing dynamics, is represented by a new set of aesthetics that people use in defining their identity. Building structures like bamboo scaffoldings or architectural renderings form most of our collective sensory. Often fragmented and at times harmonious, they transform into the landscape of our mind. In this new body of works, Lucille Lo pays specific attention to the prominence of plurality in our society. Lo's heavily textured composition is created by juxtaposition of colors and architectural elements.
