Phil Pither – The Photographer
Phil has been passionate about photography since 70s. In 80s, Phil won many photographic awards from the Australian Photography Association; he was also invited by the Australia Photographer Magazine and has exclusive pages published of his collections and features.
The nature of New Zealand (his birth place) and Australia provided him with great background and ideas for his photography. In the early days, he explored the natural environment through his exquisitely crafted black-and-white photographs and photographs of trees were the heart of his works. He used to spend thousands of hours in his dark room to develop his own masterpieces.
Through the influence of the study of Architecture in the college, Phil is equally adept at capturing the architecture of the natural landscapes and man made forms. In the intricate relationships of shapes and patterns, his pictures reflect the extraordinary beauty of the subject matter and its profound implications. Phil demonstrates his ability to adapt mind, eye, heart, and technique to his collections. The luminous images in his collection embody the distinctive vision he has developed by listening closely to the natural world.
Phil’s rich collection of photographs in this Exhibition will take you on a whirlwind tour traveling with him to places he has visited in Pacific, South and North Asia, Greater China, West and East Europe, Middle East, South and West Africa, Central and North America.
