Mental Storming
by Art Experience Gallery
Location: Art Experience Gallery
Artist(s): WONG Wing Tong
Date: 23 Jan - 27 Feb 2016

Art Experience Gallery proudly present a solo exhibition of Hong Kong artist Wong Wing Tong – entitled “Metal Storming”, this exhibition will feature Wong’s latest paintings as well as his early work since 2005, some of them will be presented in a form of installation for the first time.

Graduated in Bachelor of Arts (major in painting) from RMIT University (co-presented with HK Art School) in 2008, Wong Wing Tong has been actively practicing in art and exploring a large variety of medium in his work. Wong does not limit himself in the form of creation, however painting seems to be his most powerful expression to communicate with his audience. It is rather surprising to see such a young local artist who has an old soul, his recent paintings show a strong formation of composition, texture, observation, belief and creative energy.

Wong’s latest work is a new development from his drawing and painting series “Face Landscape” since 2005, it further enhances the path in which he tries to connect the outside world with his inner source and express his personal feelings on canvas. His work illustrates his relationship with the space around him at different stages in life, as he mentions, “city landscape and people who come across in particular conditions have always been an important inspiration to me”. Wong believes in energy transmission among all beings beyond visuals, the rather abstract and bizarre portraits appear in his paintings are not actual faces of anyone, but an impression of the energy exist within people in particular state or condition. The repeated symbols and patterns in his new work translate his interpretation of vibration as a sign of life, the exhibition title “Mental Storming” may describe best the distinctive but intangible quality of the artist’s spiritual work and mind.

It is exciting to witness a young talented artist express himself so genuinely through art, to live and observe passionately and search for his own placement in this world, and share positive energy with all the souls come across with his art.
