Black & White
by Artist Commune
Location: Artist Commune
Artist(s): LEE Chun Wah, WU Chun Yin
Date: 4 Nov - 10 Nov 2011

"How to paint better?" We ponder this question everyday.

A blank piece of paper is an empty world. An artist’s responsibility is to create and fill it with life and beauty. Art creation is a long process, from exploring subject matters, establishing a theme to start drawing or painting; we deliberate over and alter the composition of a picture repeatedly until the idea is perfectly revealed. In the progress of drawing or painting, we study the effect which every single stroke will make on the paper. As visual artists, we enjoy this process and it always brings us excitement and hopes.

Both Chinese and Western styles of art will be presented in this exhibition. These works are composed of Chinese ink paintings and Western drawings respectively. In those works we tried to explore form and space; and more, to sense the power and poetry containing in the lines and tones. Through this exhibition, Chinese and Western art will have a silent dialogue. “Black and White” tones simply become the common language between these two different art forms.
