Each November brings Hong Kong Art Gallery Week, a week-long Arts Festival of Talks, Tours, Studio Visits, circling Art Buses touring the different art districts, Art Lates as well as Family Art Days by neighbourhood. This week-long festival, in addition to other gallery events, fosters a culture of gallery-hopping in one of Asia's most dynamic cities!
At this year’s Art Gallery Week, Ora-Ora will present Winter Sunrise – A Joint Sculpture Exhibition, featuring artworks from famous sculptors Xu Hongfei, Cai Zhisong and Man Fung-Yi.
The participating artists are varied in style and at the same time, their artworks are rich in content. Through his Sculpture Exhibition World Tour (2013–2015), Xu Hongfei’s “Chubby Women” left their footprints internationally, showing a unique combination of traditional Chinese aesthetics and liberal spirits of the modern world. As a continuation of Xu’s world tour, the sculptures presented convey a harmonious and powerful artistic expression to audiences. Cai Zhisong’s artworks stem from Chinese history, linking natural and dignified sculpting with an intense power, ultimately indicating the artist’s in-depth contemplation. As for Man Fung-yi, she builds a connection between personal, intimate feelings and malleable metal tapestry. By adding elements of traditional Chinese needlework into a conventional context, she expands the means of expression in contemporary sculpture.
