In addition to promoting Fresh Ink contemporary art, Galerie Ora-Ora will be exhibiting works from local Hong Kong artists at its new gallery at Kwai Chung. Being its first exhibition since the studio's opening, "ReUnDefined" will be an exhibition of theme-related art pieces, ranging from painting, photograph, ceramic and sculpture that depict local artists' perceptions of Hong Kong and give the audience an insight into this city through their eyes. A total of 10 prominent artists featured in this exhibition include Stephen Wong, Anat Givon, David Lui, Joey Leung, Oscar Chan, Lok Kwan Chi, Sue Lai, Tiger Wong and Wong Wo Bik.
They are together a group of established and emerging Hong Kong artists, gathered with their insightful works, portraying our “Hong Kong” through their works. The variety of forms, materials, styles and types will give audience an insight of what Hong Kong artists are about and their perception of our homeland. This exhibition is not the answer to who we truly are, it is a brand new path for audiences to set on and rethink our values in being a Hongkonger. Taking David Lui as an example, he uses printmaking to illustrate the lost and unsatisfied soul of a Hongkonger, when our daily lives are bombarded by consumer information. Another artist Joey Leung, uses salted fish - a traditional Chinese food, as a platform to portray how traditions can be transformed into modernity; while works by Gary Mok are critical documentaries of the everyday phenomenon.
Art Basel HK VIPs and gallery friends are also invited to the Dimsum opening night event on 24 May (Friday) from 5-9pm, where they will have the opportunity to enjoy the exhibition and mingle with local talents.
Opening hours: By Appointment Only
