Purified Space - Magnetic Suspension (2008) by HAO Jian Tao
150 x 110 cm
Mixed media on canvas
We always say that painting is the mirror of one’s persona. What you feel is the same as what your works reflect. When I create, I want nothing except my true feelings. It is because only in this way, I will have the courage to stand before my work. I do not know since when, I have lost my faith in life, and have felt the fear and insecurity towards the solitary life. Such feeling has bothered me especially after the Sichuan Earthquake. In my recent paintings, there is always a giant piece of stone suspending in mid air and above it is a tree, a person being isolated and helpless. I do not know what will happen if the wind blows.
