Marco Szeto was born in Hong Kong in 1955. He started taking art lessons in 1967 from the late Lui Shou-kwan, well-known master of modern Chinese painting. In 1970, Marco Szeto left Hong Kong and attended various art institutes and private studios in Palermo in Sicily, Sardinia and other places in Italy, with the emphasis on traditional painting technique, drawing and the history of art. In 1977, he went to Madrid in Spain where he concentrated on the art of Velazquez. In 1978, saw Marco Szeto’s first solo exhibition at the Hong Kong Arts Center under the joint sponsorship of the Italian Consulate and Il Comitato delia Dante Alighieri di Hong Kong. In 1980, he founded the art institute Barocco Accademia di belle Arti. Over the years Marco Szeto has divided his time among art creation and exhibitions, and the teaching and promotion of art. Since 1978, Marco Szeto has participated, either singly or jointly in over 30 exhibitions. He has left his footprints in over 60 countries in five continents, his creativity continuously fuelled by the pleasure of travel. Marco Szeto is currently the Artist-in-Residence of the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, and the Councilor of the Italian Cultural Society of Hong Kong.
