Moon Gallery proudly presents “Paradise,” a solo exhibition featuring the artworks of the Grand Prizewinner of the Moon Gallery 2008 Competition – Korean artist Ryu Ji Sun. “Paradise” officially opens on the evening of Thursday 26 November, and is on show until Thursday 10 December.
Ryu Ji Sun creates from the imagination, deconstructing the order of nature in his artworks through fragments of bold forms and colors. From 2D paintings to 3D installation pieces, apples (the cause of the original sin from paradise), grapes and peaches grow from the same tree or organic matter in the artist’s creations. Ryu explores the mysterious ways in which fruits, plants, nature and human activity intertwine, encapsulating the audience into the artworks’ surreal but vivid paradise.
Ryu Ji Sun graduated with a M.F.A. from the Department of Fine Arts at Seoul National University, and has exhibited extensively in Seoul, Beijing and Shanghai. “Paradise” will be the artist’s debut solo exhibition in Hong Kong, and a rare chance for the local audience to witness the emerging Korean contemporary art scene. Moon Gallery Hong Kong continues to be the leading Gallery to promote Korean art and displaying the most influential artists of tomorrow.
