This summer Moon Gallery invites Jonathan Baker, London based artist, to showcase his recent paintings, ink drawing and pastel works.
Different from the 'Typical Avant-Garde British Work (eg. YBA)' we normally encountered, Baker's works reflect the busy Metropolitan Londoner's state of mind. With the combination of controlled and free flow brush stroke, Bakers' works reviews another aspect of British Art: a more abstract, emotional and human art works.
At first look at Baker's works, they are of pure abstraction. However, if you spend more time looking at them, figures appearing all over the picture. Indeed, this is a profound experience to appreciate Baker's work; a feast of color with deep emotional expression. In a way, Baker's works always display a balance between struggling remains consions and loosing control – a dramatic 'tour de force' works that can stay in our mind for a long time after.
