Triple-Major Nomad Store, Hong Kong
by ilivetomorrow
Location: ilivetomorrow
Date: 23 Nov - 30 Nov 2010

Triple-Major, a creative studio and concept store based in Beijing, will launch a seven day "Nomad Store" in Hong Kong, bringing avant-garde and lesser known designers from around the world to ilivetomorrow, a creative space in Hong Kong. This endeavor will be the first stop in the Triple-Major Nomad Store's traveling tour, bringing global avant-garde designers to different cities in a sporadic retail experiment. The traveling project will include a mix of established international talents such as Fabrics Interseason, Patrik Ervell and Pelican Avenue as well as experimental designers Anntian, Daniel Palillo, Mundi and Rozalb de Mura.

Each Nomad Store will appropriate local elements and attempt to fit its local environment. Inspired by the heavily mass-marketed but often disregarded advertisements by real estate agencies in Hong Kong, Triple-Major's first nomad store will be disguised as a real estate agency, with its windows and interior covered by real estate ads. Chinese avant-garde label, ccchu, will also create an installation in the store to show their new collection.

ilivetomorrow in Sheung Wan is a creative space dedicated to innovative design and a lab for prospective collaborations with designers. The space's continuing support of experimental design fits the spirit of Triple-Major and the designers it represents. The two spaces will thus have frequent collaborations in the future. After Hong Kong, the Nomad Store Project will continue to travel to other cities around the world. Potential locations include Shanghai, Los Angeles and Copenhagen.

“As Triple-Major carries some very unique avant-garde designers, we want to do something innovative with how we represent them as well," said director, Ritchie Chan. "Like nomads, the Nomad Store will be like a traveling shop that attempts to fit into the local environment wherever it goes. It will be a bit of a retail experiment and a way to challenge traditional criteria for stores."
