2P Contemporary Art Gallery is pleased to present its 1st Anniversary exhibition For Your Pleasure (Remake / Remodel) by Scott Redford + Reinhardt Dammn and Hiram To + Jack Darvas.
Taking the title from Roxy Music’s second album from 1973, For Your Pleasure celebrates the conditions for contemporary art-making and the sublimation of time and space in the remaking and remodeling of ideas from a previous moment.
Leading Post-Conceptual Australian artists Scott Redford and Hiram To met in 1986 and have worked together consistently for over two decades. In For Your Pleasure, using Nicolas Bourriaud’s ideas of “postproduction” as a point of departure, the artists and their shadow ‘collaborators’ Reinhardt Dammn and Jack Darvas revision a series of new works based on concepts created by the artists from the 1980s, testing both the resilience of those artworks by inserting them into different narratives and their inherent capacity for translation and reinvention.
Scott Redford recently held a major selected survey of his works (with Reinhardt Dammn) at the Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane, Australia. Hiram To recently departed planet Black Swan and is continuing his hitchhiking in the media industry. Jack Darvas has been away from the art world, under a different name, since 1995.
