Gallery by the Harbour and Wan Fung Art Gallery presents the “Meow” Art Exhibition by Chinese Artist Xing Chengai at Gallery by the Harbour. The exhibition will showcase around 20 of Xing’s works on the theme of cat. Xing is a master in depicting cats in a meticulous and adorable way. He observes movements and daily life of cats and presents them vividly by combining Chinese techniques with western style. After years of studies and explorations, Xing gradually established his unique set of techniques and ways of cat drawings.

Xing Chengai loves painting cats very much. He thinks they are tender yet naughty as a kid and also dependent and loyal as an old servant that will never leave their owner. Xing is good at traditional Chinese realistic animal and flower painting. He absorbed traditional Chinese painting’s brush, ink, colour oriental techniques, and integrate them into the Western idea of three-dimensional shape, showing them in his animal painting in particular. He puts his own favorite, the family cat, into his work. He applies variety of skills to represent all kinds of family cat movements and emotional changes. He focuses on creating a precise picture with graceful atmosphere and fine composition. He expresses his own feelings perfusion in his works with the elegant style and strong artistic appeal.
