Slender beauties are iconic in traditional Chinese paintings. Have you ever seen a rude and rather large woman painted on Chinese scrolls? Leung Ka Yi, Jessie is an innovative artist who is able to break away from conventions of Chinese painting. Her works are not only interesting but also have a sense of contemporaneousness. When Jessie graduated from the Bachelor of Arts Program in Visual Arts of Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University, she had already won various awards, including the Second Runner-up of "COoo…L Grad-Show! 2010, which was organized by CultaZine Ltd. / CULTaMAP. This solo exhibition of her has received the venue sponsor from Wan Fung Art Gallery, as part of the prizes.

Apart from her signature series Rotundity, this exhibition will also showcase her latest creations, namely Bugaboo and Villain Hitting. These two series continues her style of fun and probing. Hong Kong parents are always desperately pushing their children to success and even make them enroll in a numerous courses. But do they know what the children would think? May be the answer is Villain Hitting. This series of three paintings depicts children doing villain hitting in different poses. This might be their best way to escape from overwhelming stress.
