Location: No Borders Art Gallery
Artist(s): Jonathan Jay LEE
Date: 3 Sep - 7 Oct 2010

“2” is Jonathan Jay Lee’s second solo exhibition. The 25-year old artist has captured the minds and attention of the bustling Hong Kong art scene. Through his vibrantly sensuous and illustrative creations, Jonathan’s play of color and figuration capture what universally moves the human spirit – beauty and possibility.

There is much to be said about “2” despite the brevity of it’s title. Rooted in the concept and the passion of illustrative storytelling, Jonathan distills the dynamic between the duality of his works, some of them being presented in twos. He stokes the viewer’s imagination by presenting images that go beyond what is linear and what is expected because while two does come after one, so does three, four and five. We are called to experience, by the clamoring urge, to play, explore and create our own stories.

Born in the US and Jonathan is an alumni of Parson’s The New School for Design in New York. He has garnered numerous mentions and features in publications. Among these, he has been included in Perspective Magazine’s 40 under 40: Asia’s Top Young Designers and has been profiled by Lifestyle Asia.
