Eileen Chang (1920-1995), one of the most famous Chinese writer in the 20th century, is a legendary figure in her own self. Many of her novels are autobiographical. A number of her novels were adapted as movies and those characters can be seen as her alter egos. The comparison between herself and her characters has long been a theme for study.
