We are happy to announce Para/Site Art Space’s 10th annual charity auction, ArtMART, exhibiting Oct. 29th – Nov. 3rd at Pacific Place 3 (UG Lobby) with an auction following on Nov. 4th at Kee Club. Para/Site Art Space, Hong Kong’s premiere non-profit exhibition space for contemporary art, will present Chinese and International artists including Weng Fen, Wu Shanzhuan, Joseph Kosuth, and Terence Koh, well-known to both museums and international art auctions like Sotheby’s and Christie’s. For new collectors, the auction is an entrylevel opportunity to collect world-renowned artists while helping to develop Hong Kong’s art scene.
Established in 1996, Para/Site Art Space started as an artist-run space that provided an open platform to exhibit, produce and communicate contemporary art in Hong Kong. Three years ago it developed into a curatorrun space with non-profit, charitable status committed to promoting contemporary visual arts in Hong Kong. The art space is housed in a two-floor gallery in Sheung Wan, a historical and characteristic area. By providing a professional exhibition space as well as creating an environment where artists at all levels can present their artworks, Para/Site Art Space is the first of its kind in Hong Kong to support the growth and development of artists and their related practices.
2008 marks a transformational year for Para/Site Art Space as we bid farewell to Tobias Berger and Christina Li, former Executive Director/Curator and Curator,
respectively, and make way for Alvaro Rodriguez Fominaya and Yung Ma in their places. Tobias and
Christina’s lasting impact on Hong Kong’s art scene will give way to a new vision and new opportunities for growth and artistic direction.
To enable new programs like educational outreach, publications, and exciting exhibitions, we urgently need the support of private individuals to supplement our government and corporate funding. We would greatly appreciate your participation in our auction, and hope you will consider bidding on these incredible artworks to support Para/Site Art Space’s mission to enrich the Hong Kong and Asian art scene.
