Shore – International Literary and Visual Art Exhibition cum Charity Sale
by Sino Group's 'Art in Hong Kong'
Location: Central Plaza & OC Gallery
Date: 14 Nov 2009 - 3 Jan 2010

Sino Group and Hong Kong Baptist University present

Sino Group’s ‘Art in Hong Kong’ joins hands with Hong Kong Baptist University and International Writers Workshop to present ‘Shore – International Literary and Visual Art Exhibition cum Charity Sale’. The event features 40 works created by 20 visual artists and 20 writers based on the theme, ‘shore’.

Associated with imagery that conjures up mountain and water, the Chinese character for ‘shore’ represents the fringe of land at the edge of the sea. Metaphorically speaking, reaching the shore is to achieve a goal. Through different interpretations of ‘shore’, the artists and writers deliver the idea of vitality to reveal a world full of lyricism. The resulting works of art seamlessly integrate the two artistic languages.

To benefit the community and the needy, all works are up for charity sale to raise funds for The Community Chest of Hong Kong.

Visual art and creative writing united as a total work of art
The creative process of the work required great interactivity. The artists first created two works with ‘shore’ as the theme. They then paired up with the 20 writers who developed their literature based on their interpretations of the artists’ pieces. In dialogue with one another, the paintings and literature became a total work of art accentuating the resonance of their counterparts.

Accompanied by inspiring literature, the works on view include ink paintings, oil paintings, prints and mixed media work.

Performance by Hong Kong Treble Choir at the opening ceremony
Sino Group’s ‘Art in Hong Kong’ has invited Hong Kong Treble Choir to perform at the opening ceremony to highlight the interactivity of music, visual art, and literature.
