Shin Hwa Gallery presents: “Symphony of the Spirit” exhibition featuring limited-edition archival pigment prints by Korean artist Kim Mi-Kyoung makes its debut in LANDMARK. The artist pours colours onto the canvas, injecting affection and emotion into life that she interprets as a kaleidoscope.
Painting without brush but her physical motions, Kim allows the highly saturated colours to swim on the canvas and float with her mood. The colours spread out randomly and gracefully, in a visual interpretation of spontaneous thought and unconstrained emotion. Kim utilises nature’s palette and celebrates the brilliant harmonies that occur when these contrasting colours come together.
Even before Kim graduated from the College of Fine Art & Design at Hongik University in 1984, she was already participating in numerous international group exhibitions. In 1989, she obtained her MFA from Pratt Institute in New York. She was named Korean Young Artist by Korea Culture and Arts Foundation in 2006. Her latest solo creations were exhibited in Berlin, Seoul and Hong Kong.
