Ju Ming Exhibition
by iPRECIATION Hong Kong
Location: iPRECIATION
Artist(s): JU Ming
Date: 1 Jun - 20 Jun 2010

iPRECIATION is delighted to launch a major exhibition of world renowned sculptor Ju Ming, in conjunction with the grand opening of iPRECIATION Hong Kong. The exhibition will feature two different series of artworks: namely the quintessential Taichi Series, the recent Living World Series wood sculptures, and Ju’s latest creations, the Living World Series- Swimming. The sculptures will be exhibited at various locations in Central, Hong Kong. The artist will also be present at the Opening Night on 1 June 2010.

Born in 1938 in Miaoli, Taiwan, Ju Ming is renowned for his arresting technique, and astute familiarity with different materials. The Taichi Series, Ju’s most celebrated endeavour, materialises an ancient Chinese practice via abstract forms; as the hefty, bronze sculptures, fashioned in a medley of traditional poses, appear to test the boundaries of time and tradition.

Ju Ming’s second venture, the Living World Series, was inaugurated in the 1980s,
during Ju’s residency in New York. This was the artist’s first visit abroad, and
the cultural shock ensued paved way for this endearing, albeit quirky
series of artworks. These sculptures, were for Ju, a bridge that cured
both language and communication barriers; While for collectors, they
remain heartfelt interpretations of human life, capturing the nuances
that determine the bond and interaction amongst individuals.

iPRECIATION is also proud to present the inaugural launch of Ju Ming’s latest creations in Hong Kong: the Living World Series- Swimming. These sculptures are sizable, witty emulations of ladies at leisure, the reflective, glistening finish of each artwork attesting to Ju’s sculpting dexterity. Each possessing a deftly sculpted silhouette, the artworks emanate a sensuousness that is humorous and seemingly lifelike, enticing viewers and collectors with their gleaming, charming aura.
