Oil Painting is one of the most common yet influential kinds of media in Western Art History. Western painters excel in recreating the texture of objects through the demonstration of light and shadow. They emphasize on attaining the outward appearance by the shape as well as conveying the verve within. From ancient to present, Western painting represents a continuous tradition from antiquity. Until the 19th century, oil paintings were primarily concerned with representational and classical modes of expression, such as historical and religious themes, while landscape, still life and portraits are also popular subjects. Thereafter, more modern and conceptual forms gained favor, and their progressive concepts provide a road to the contemporary art.

Baoqu Tang Gallery of Art is delighted to present the exhibition "Romantic Collection of Western Paintings", which a number of western paintings in affable themes are showcased. These art pieces possess a poeticism that meticulously interprets the ordinary scenes or objects of our daily life, yet the painting skills and the ideas comprehended are transformed by generations for centuries. They are the treasures of Western culture, which merely shared by the appreciated ones.
