Oil paintings were introduced to China early in Ming Dynasty. It has aroused curious contrasts with traditional Chinese ink paintings and gained rich developments through centuries. The advance in transportation enabled Chinese artists like Lin Feng Mian, Xu Bei Hong and Pan Yu Liang to study abroad. These artists, who later became tutors of the new emerging artists, brought back new concepts and techniques from Japan, Europe and America. Some of them even founded important art colleges, where western training made profound impact on traditional art. Pan Yu Liang, a participating artist in the exhibition “The Vision of Time”, is one of those who has experienced cultures in different countries and devote to art teaching in China.
