Born in 1957 in Hong Kong, Christopher Ku took up painting during secondary school in Taiwan. At nineteen, he was sent to Great Britain to begin his new life. To focus on his creative work, Ku settled in the quiet town of Aberdeen in Scotland where gained a diploma in art and design before entering the Gray's school of Art. In 1990 he received his master degree in painting from the prestigious Royal College of Art in London. By the time Ku received his master degree he had already embarked on a distinctive aesthetic and spiritual journey. After leaving London, Ku returned north to Edinburgh and evolved a unique style of painting which has continued to the present day, even after having moved back to Hong Kong in 1999. His work is in many private and public collections such as the Marlow Art Collection, Royal College of Art, and Museum 2000 Germany.
