On May 13, Ooi Botos opens a show for contemporary ink artist, Zheng Chongbin, INKquiry. The show will be Zheng Chongbin's first show ever in Hong Kong.

Living between Shanghai and San Francisco, Zheng has shown widely at museums and institutions including Asian Art Museum (San Francisco), Zendai Contemporary Art Exhibition Hall (Shanghai), Doland Museum of Modern Art (Shanghai), Shanghai Art Museum, Pacific Asia Museum (Los Angeles), The Third Chengdu Biennale at the Chengdu Modern Art Museum (Chengdu), Taipei 2010 Contemporary Ink Painting Biennial at The National Museum of History (Taipei) and a monumental, site-specific, permanent sculptural installation for the Marina Bay Sands (Singapore), attracting critical kudos for locomoting forward the tradition of Chinese ink painting with his abstract, visceral, frequently monumental paintings.

As one of the most dynamic exponents of contemporary ink painting today, Zheng will be the featured artist in an Asia Society panel discussion, The Future of Contemporary Ink Painting, on May 23rd, with Tony Godfrey, Director of Research at Sotheby’s Institute, Dr. Shen Kuiyi, Director of the Chinese Studies Program at the University of California, and Dr. Britta Erickson, independent curator.
