A Dog's Life
by Red Elation Gallery
Location: Red Elation Gallery
Artist(s): HUANG He
Date: 5 Mar - 25 May 2011

“A Dog’s Life” is a series of paintings that expresses the vibrancy of life, together with its uncertainties, through the object of the dog. Huang He’s works are always narrating and expressing emotions through his figures, which are filled with visionary bursts. In “A Dog’s Life”, he uses primary colors, strong contrasts and graphic strokes in his oil on canvas and oil on paper paintings to express the vibrancy of life - the images are scratched and splashed with paint on the other hand to show that everything could be totally different or over in the next moment. Life for Huang He is special, but fragile.

Huang He is a young artist of the new-generation from Hainan. He graduated in Fine Arts from the Hainan Normal University in 1998. He produces paintings filled with his energy, pursuing activity in his works. He seeks his own style through personal life experiences and for him, the psychological process of creating his art.

Huang He has started to attract international attention. He held his first overseas solo exhibition in Berlin in 2008 and his works have been exhibited widely in many galleries and exhibitions. These include the Michael Schultz Gallery in Berlin, L.A. Gallery (Beijing), ART FAIR 2010 (Hong Kong), and Pulse New York and Miami. Huang He’s art has been well received and he has many collectors worldwide.

Opening: March 5, 2011 (Saturday) from 4:30pm  to 7pm
