Red Elation Gallery is pleased to present "One day", a group exhibition by three local female artists, Eastman Cheng Shuk Yee, Alice Lai Nga Yu and Castaly Leung Ching Man, is about stories and dreams in the city. With different subject matters - like daily objects, flash moments and human relationships - the featured works express the artists’ hopes for one day and bring joy and love to the city.
Eastman Cheng obtained her MFA in the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2009. Selected solo exhibition by Eastman- “7 1/2ft Time Capsule-Works by Eastman Cheng” Hong Kong in 2011; Open Studio of Breathe Residency “Gymnasium” Manchester in 2010. She participated in various group exhibitions and community projects held in museums, galleries, shopping malls and institutions. Such as “HK ART comics 2011”, “Touching Art: Louvre’s Sculptures in Movement” in 2010, “Echoļ¼Hong Kong Sculpture Biennial 2010” and “Hiking Arte”in 2009. She also participated in “Exhibition of Sovereign Annual Contemporary Asian Art Competition” in 2004 and “Exhibition of Allen & Overy Art Collection” in 2003. Eastman currently focuses on creating imitated furniture sculpture by using fabric and wood.
Alice Lai graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong Fine Arts Department in 2000. She obtained the Hong Kong Arts Development Council – FCO Chevening – University of Leeds Scholarships in 2005 to pursue Master Degree in Fine Art in UK. Alice held her solo exhibition in Hong Kong -“Blossoms & Raindrops” and “Artists in the Neighbourhood Scheme IV: Ordinary Game – Works by Alice Nga-yu Lai” in 2009; "Floating" in 2008. Joint exhibitions she participated include “Tai Gang Yi Yuan” Taipei in 2013; “Touching Art: Louvre’s Sculptures in Movement- Artist response section “Dimension of Touching” Hong Kong Art Museum in 2011.
Castaly Leung received her Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Fine Arts degree in the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002 and 2010. Her solo exhibition in Hong Kong "Imprint of the Mundane," in 2010 and "With Love" at the Hong Kong Central Plaza in 2011. Her works has been selected to participated in various local and overseas exhibitions and fairs- “HKIAA Fair 2010 (HK International Antique & Arts Fair)” and “Hong Kong International Art Fair 2010” Hong Kong in 2010; “O Gallery 2008 Spring Exhibtion” Beijing in 2008. Castaly also received numbers of art awards- “Anthropy Creative Prize of The Art of CUHK (MFA Award) in 2010; “Finalist of 2005 Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition” and “Finalist (Painting) Philippe Charriol Foundation 20th and 17th Annual Art Competition in 2005 and 2002.
