Picture It - Joint Exhibition of 6 Local Illustrators
by OC Gallery
Location: OC Gallery
Artist(s): Steve YUEN, Sindy LAU, Adeline KO, Jan KOON, Benny LAU, Pucky
Date: 7 Apr - 22 May 2011

Sino Group’s ‘Art in Hong Kong’ is delighted to present ‘Picture It - Joint exhibition of 6 local illustrators’, which showcases a large mural with six different stories painted and created by Sindy Lau, Benny Lau, Steve Yuen, Pucky, Adeline Ko and Jan Koon. The exhibition will be open to public on 7th April 2011 (Thu) at OC Gallery, Olympian City 1. To make the exhibition more meaningful, six local illustrators will conduct three creative workshops for underprivileged children on 28th and 30th April 2011 to share the joy of imagination and creativity with local community.

Combining fiction with visual art, picture books offer readers a unique literary experience with vivid illustrations and creative imagination. This exhibition also marks the first collaboration of the six illustrators to present their picture book stories in the form of a large mural in public space. Each of the stories has its unique representation of the real world, ranging from everyday life experiences to global issues. To enhance the visual impact of the mural, the illustrators also adopt the ‘pop up’ concept into their works to create a new reading experience for the public.

To make the exhibition more meaningful, three creative workshops will be held for the underprivileged children to demonstrate how to make simple and funny arts and crafts. Sino Group’s ‘Art in Hong Kong’ has invited over 40 children from six to twelve years of age from the centre of The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong and Asbury Methodist Social Service to participate in those workshops. Teaching illustrators will offer the participants a storytelling session to be followed by an art making workshop. All participants may have a chance to display their finished artworks during the exhibition period and share their creative imagination with the public.
