Lau Chiu Kwan was born in Shanghai in 1944. She learned from famous artists such as Hu Ya Guang and Qian Jun Tao, and is Liu Hai Su’s last apprentice. Lau also studied oil painting in the Chinese Art Academy. She won the Excellence Award in the Asian Female Painters Exhibition (1995) and the Excellence Award for ‘Gung Bi’ Paintings in the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Contest (1997). Her works have been exhibited worldwide and are collected by galleries, museums, organisations and individuals. She is currently the art consultant to the Society for the Study of Art by Liu Hai Su, vice chairperson of the Hong Kong New Art Society and the lifelong president of the Society of Lotus Dream.
