Dinh Quan: “Singing in Green Fields”
In Dinh Quan’s studio in 2006, I found him working on a series of fabulous large lacquer paintings, starting with self portraits but the subject evolving over time into a moving commentary on social developments in Vietnam. Neither Quan nor I knew then that this series would become the base for 2 more years of intense work, creating paintings, sculptures, and a video installation on the sandbanks of the “Red River” outside of Hanoi, ultimately cumulating in a fabulous exhibition “Singing in Green Fields” in the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi in March 2009.
Along the way Dinh Quan allowed us to buy some of the best works for our private collection, on the condition none would be shown till after his March 2009 exhibition.
We’re pleased to now be able to offer our clients the opportunity to acquire some of these spectacular works of art. Already recognized as one of the leading Vietnamese contemporary artists, the scope and diversity in media and forms of art of his current work re-affirm Dinh Quan’s amazing talents and his contribution to the development of contemporary art in Vietnam.
