“My Best”, carefully selected works by the renown artist Nguyen Thanh Binh, one of Vietnam’s most recognized and admired contemporary artists.
Born in 1954, Binh attended both the Hanoi Fine Arts College and the Ho Chi Minh Arts College. He is particularly known for his female images, young women dressed in the “Ao Dai”, the traditional Vietnamese dress, his nudes and swirling ballerinas, yet shows great diversity as well, to which “The Horse Race” and “Kung Fu” are vivid testimony.
His subjects are highly stylized. Movement is expressed in broad brushstrokes, often against a distinctive, muted earth-toned background that contrasts delicately with the pastel colors Binh likes to use so much in the portrayal of his subjects.
