Goethe-Institut Hongkong presents Hong Kong artist Magdalen Wong's exhibition 'Shift' from March 29 to May 7, 2011.
'Shift' exhibits the complexity of the ordinary through altering and re-positioning objects and images. Often playing with the innate quality and composition of things found in the everyday, Magdalen Wong formalizes their fundamental design, bringing about a re-experiencing of the familiar.
The appeal is not in the change itself, but rather the process of transformation in which the slightest shift is heightened to bring about a different perspective in the ordinary. From re-presenting common material, such as stickers, balloons and watermelon, Wong hopes to reveal an alternative reality of objects with sculptural, video and photographic works.
Magdalen Wong is currently on an Asian Pacific Artists Fellowship at the Goyang Art Studio Residency Program, South Korea (10.1. - 10.6.2011).
Exhibition opening at 7:00pm on 29.3.2011 (Tue)
