The diplomatic world is well known for thinking in terms of contracts, agreements and political correctness. But this is only one side. The German Consul-General in Hong Kong, Frank Burbach, felt committed to culture throughout his life. This applies not only to culture as a 'soft diplomacy', sure he is enthusiastic about culture in all its forms - but it applies in a literal sense too: he painted throughout his whole career (which started years ago in Japan). There were transitions between his profession as a career diplomat and his private life as a painter. It was 'Art Beatus' which showed his works first (5.- 28.2.2009). - As his posting in Hong Kong comes to an end and Frank Burbach finds himself in transition again it is time to present part of his work in an exhibition at the Goethe-Gallery.
