2010 is the 20th anniversary of the German reunification. Instead of reviewing on the event itself Goethe-Institut Hongkong is again taking up the topic of ‘change of time’ which was presented in its earlier exhibition Ortszeit/ Local Time (10.7. - 14.8.2009). While in ‘Ortszeit/ Local Time’ we saw Stefan Koppelkamm's photos of the same buildings and streets in East Germany taken in 1990 and 2002, in the upcoming exhibition by Angela Fensch - ‘Women Portraits Children 1989 and 2005’ - we will see photos of women and their children in East Germany with an interval of 16 years.
‘Women Portraits Children 1989 and 2005’ will give the audience a different view to the changes between 1989 and 2005 under the new political system. The black and white photos will be shown in pairs at the Goethe-Gallery from December 8, 2009 to January 20, 2010.
Angela Fensch was born in 1952 in Eastern Germany, the former German Democratic Republic. She lives with two sons in Uckermark, close to Berlin.
