Australian aboriginal art is the oldest living art tradition in the world, and one that is seeped in spiritual knowledge and truth. Most aboriginal art relates to stories of the Dreamtime. The Dreamtime is the creation period in aboriginal belief when ancestral beings formed the land and created the people, the plants and the animals. Paddy Japaljarri Stewart, one of the featured artists in this exhibition painted his “Snake Dreaming” so that aboriginal children would remember their ancestry.

Paddy’s artistic career commenced in the early 1980’s and has only gained momentum and significance through the years, with over 100 group shows including this cultural heavyweight’s work. This amazing man is a force to be reckoned with and has accomplished so much in his lifetime – from a school bus driver, to a remarkable artist who has travelled to Paris with five others creating a ground painting installation at the exhibition ‘Magiciens de la Terre’ at the Centre Georges Pompidou.

ReDot Fine Art Gallery is the first and only dedicated aboriginal art Gallery in Singapore, and indeed, the only one throughout Asia-Pacific. It has been in operation since 2004, and is located in the heart of Singapore’s dock precinct. ReDot features a superb range of aboriginal art at both affordable prices for art lovers as well as more important collectors’ pieces for investment purposes. The gallery represents artists from areas across the northern and western deserts of Australia - where the majority of the aboriginal Art Centres are located, as well as Queensland and the top end of Northern Australia.
