The exhibition of Mr.Cui Zifan’s donation which is sponsored by China Artists Association, Beijing Artists association, Beijing Fine Art Academy and Research Institute of Cui Zifan will opened on 3ed. Mar.2011, at the Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy. About seventy paintings are drawn from the artist’s donation, and most of them finished between 1970s and 2010. Besides, the exhibition also presented documents of the artist’s art career; the album of Paintings of Cui Zifan will meet the audience with the opening of the exhibition. This exhibition will last to 23ed. Mar.2011.

To motherland, Cui Zifan loved deeply, when he was very young he participated the Communist Party of China secretly. 1956 he got involved in the preparation of establishment of Beijing Chinese Art Academic (original name of Beijing Fine Art Academy), in 1957 when Beijing Fine Art Academy had established, Mr.Cui had invited Qi Baishi as the honorary president, and himself as the vice president of Beijing Fine Art Academy. Mr.Cui always pay close attention to the development of Beijing Fine Art Academy. There are three donation dreams of Mr.Cui though his lifetime, one of them is donate part of his paintings to the Beijing Fine Art Academy. When leaders of Beijing Fine Art Academy went Penglai in Shandong Province (山东蓬莱) to see Mr.Cui, the artist selected around seventy paintings to donate Beijing Fine Art Academy and finished his last dream of the three. Small paintings are used for maintaining my daily life, extraordinary paintings are donated to the country is part of the poem wrote by Cui after the donation, these worlds just extended his profound love of motherland. In particular, Cui also assistants the infrastructural education programs in poverty areas, the artist devotes a lot for the people and motherland.
Qi Baishi wrote truly freehand style to the Cui’s paintings
The innovation of Chinese art is the pursuit of Cui, Cui already made tremendous achievement for traditional art. Cui learned painting when he was very young, he had followed Zhang Zilian (张子莲)，whose teacher is Wu Changshuo. During the tumultuous period, Cui had participated the national salvation movement, and he returned to the art field after PRC’s foundation. 1952, Cui had met Qi Baishi, Qi Baishi wrote truly freehand in a painting cock, after the meeting, Cui had discussed art with Qi Baishi for several times. Though ten years of study and practice, Cui had made important exploration for the Chinese traditional freehand style painting. Cui’s paintings not only with his strong personal character, simply and condense but also reveal the artist’s concern of Chinese painting’s future and destiny. Though the reading of paintings, we confidence that the exhibition will benefite a lot for the creation of Chinese painting currently.
An exhibition and an album
Take the opportunity of donation, Beijing Fine Art Academy will holds the exhibition and publish an album. This exhibition span a long time: from the 1970s to 2010, and coved flower and bird theme of Cui, including Pin Tree and Tough Years, the exhibition also brings new paintings created recent years, such as Spring in the North, Fall in the River etc. Audience can pursue the art way of Cui though the exhibition, and the album shows the paintings, interviews and articles wrote by Cui Zifan. This is a great retrospective for Mr.Cui’s art in the new century.
