Viewing A Floating World
Artist(s): PANG Maokun
Date: 22 Jul - 5 Aug 2013

Pang Maokun is one of the few artists who insist on searching for the possibilities of classical oil painting language in the context of contemporary Chinese culture. He is also an artist who spontaneously evolves his art into the current social reality .His artistic path told us that art should not be observed just from the inside. It is in the wave of social revolution, reflecting the spirit of this era. This exhibition will present the new feature of Pang Maokun’s art.

Currently, Pang intends to interpret his thinking on social reality and his experience of daily life in a sort of surreal way that is full of absurdity and spirited senses. He redefines his own understanding of culture while he relocates the people and space of real life onto the canvas. With his art and from his unique angle, Pang Maokun, as an individual in Chinese society, shows us a spiritual landscape which is closely related to and at the same time isolated from the reality.
