China International Gallery Exposition 2011
Date: 21 Apr - 24 Apr 2011

Supported by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, the Eighth Edition of the China International Gallery Exposition (CIGE 2011) will take place at the Exhibition Hall of the China World Trade Centre in Beijing from April 21 to 24, 2011 (Preview April 20).

With the auspices of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Shanghai Expo, China now arrives at an unprecedented age of prosperity. Its remarkable economic developments in the 21st century and its advances as a political and economic power have secured the country as a leading international force in the world. While China plays an important role to fortify the network between Asian regions, CIGE 2011 serves as a critical exchange platform to internationalize the local arts environment.  As the world continues to keep on eye on the booming developments of Chinese contemporary art and its impact on the global art world, the future of contemporary art market in China remains promising to art professionals worldwide.

Looking back at the global economic decline in 2009 and its in 2010, the Chinese arts market has remained strong and the economic power of Chinese art continues to grow substantially. China’s growing consumption levels for luxury goods gives the local art market further confidence.

Within the ever-changing trends of global contemporary art, CIGE distinguishes itself as an exquisite, first-rate and original platform for presenting the most exemplary artistic practices in the world today.

CIGE 2011 Gallery Exhibition 10,000 square meter space on the first floor of the China World Trade Center Exhibition Hall will host around 60 selected outstanding galleries from all over the world, presenting a panorama of modern and contemporary art. CIGE 2011 welcomes and encourages any form of art expression, including photography, video, painting, sculptures, mixed media, installations, prints, digital and net art, textile, design…

Understanding the relevance of technology and globalization on the economic infrastructure of the art world, CIGE 2011  Art Project invites galleries, artists, not-for-profit art organizations, museums, institutions, private collections, and visitors to reflect on our contemporary visual culture.
