MOT Collection introduces contemporary art in diversifies perspectives for understanding in terms of 4,500 collection. This exhibition will be separated as two parts, 'Our Ninety Years 1923-2013 ', and 'Acts of Sculpture –Use, Capture, Create.'
Based on representative collection, the first part shows how the artists for 90 years, from Kansai earthquake to the present, have faced with the world.
The second part 'Acts of Sculpture –Use, Capture, Create' introduces sculpture collection in aspect of 'use' and 'capture.' A word 'sculpture' created by verbs, 'dig', 'carve', and 'trim', but sculptures after 1960s are understood by actions, 'use' and 'capture.' Especially, the exhibition introduces works by Eri Takayana, Motohiro Tomii, and Teppei Kaneuji, who focuses on a relationship between an object and action since late 1990s. Their different sculptures and photos will be on view as well as collections in 1960-70s, photo works of Hitoshi Nomura, Koji Enokura, and Dennis Oppenheim, and sculptures of Carl Andre, and Gilberto Zorio, to track back from them.
