Chinese Art Awards 2010 will focus on the mediums of painting, drawing, photography, as well as video art. Participants will have a month (unless extended by jury) to submit their entries through the website www.sgchineseart.com. A distinguished jury panel comprising of art expert from the media, art critics, curators as well as representatives of Societe Generale’s art department will select the finalists. Final scores will also take into account public votes submitted through the website. The first two prizes (€15,000 and €7,000) will be selected by the jury with the third prize (€7,000) to be chosen by public online votes.

Hafida Guenfoud-Duval, Societe Generale’s Head of Patronage and Sponsorship says, “Many contemporary artists from Greater China have established a commanding presence in the global art community. While global interest in Chinese art is growing, young artists require a platform to showcase their works and expand their networks. Backed by our bank’s presence in 83 countries and our extensive internal and external communication channels, Societe Generale Chinese Art Awards 2010 will help artists to gain international visibility and bring valuable additions to Societe Generale’s own art collection.”

Works of the finalists will be exhibited at renowned galleries and art spaces in various cities in Asia, including Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei and potentially in Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo and Paris. Societe Generale Chinese Art Awards 2010 is an extension of Societe Generale’s long-term commitment to nurturing talents and sharing passion in contemporary arts with young artists and musicians from around the world. Societe Generale is a major art sponsor in Europe and has grown a large contemporary art collection comprising over 1,000 art pieces (painting, sculpture, photography, lithography, multiple...) that are on display at the Paris headquarters.
