With the success of the large-scale exhibition Polar Power, Love our Planet held in 2013, K11 continues its mission of prompting the public to contemplate on environmental protection. reFOODlution, jointly presented by K11 and local charity advocate Go.Asia from 1 to 30 March 2014, is aimed at educating the public about food, encouraging them to eat organic local farm produce and support fair trade organisations, as well as treasure food resources through better and fairer allocation from the farms to dining tables.
In addition to the LOHAS experience with the Go.Asia Organic Juice Bar and Fair Trade Mini Market, a photo exhibition titled One Third will be introduced in the K11 Art Mall. Austrian artist Klaus Pichler was commissioned by the United Nations to create One Third, which is an elaborate still life series of multiple foods at various stages of decay. The provocative photographic commentary masterfully explores the connection between the individual wastage of food and globalised food production.
One Third will be arriving in Hong Kong at K11 on the 1 March as the first Asian stop of the exhibition’s world tour. The dreadful contrast between the captivating beauty of the works and the ugly reality of food waste revealed through rotting subjects is complemented by five senses experience the LOHAS experience by the gigantic art installation in the Atrium. The watery sounded pouring milk, soft and mouldy looking potato crackers, half rotten and citric scented pineapple and abandoned lemon which could be used to generate electricity on a light pole stimulate your sense of hearing, touch, smell and sight. Your sense of taste will be further provoked by the launch of the Go.Asia Organic Juice Bar, operated by Healthy Living Organic Farm, which will be offering organic and fair trade certified fruit and vegetable juices. K11 and Go.Asia hope to inspire everyone to value food resources, make the right food choices, and work together towards sustainable development.
