MMFA presents a two-person exhibition of Samira Hodaei and Toshiya Kobayashi in mid-July. For a young Iranian artist Hodaei, it will be the first occasion to place her works on view in Tokyo. The other artist Kobayashi from Japan has been mainly working in Germany and Switzerland, and other European countries as well, for many years.
As a person and as a woman, Samira Hodaei creates works that disclose the irrationalities of society. In recent years, the messages she has conveyed through her works have resonated with many people. This has led to the many exhibitions and art fairs she has participated in or held in Europe, including Switzerland and Germany. For the Nishinomiya Funasaka Biennale held last year, Hodaei and Toshiya Kobayashi exhibited their collaborative work. In this exhibition, we will present their respective individual works, as well as their collaborative work.(Translated by Taeko NANPEI)
