KATHERINE SCHAEFER, Asia Director
Katherine is not only enthusiastic and passionate about contemporary art, but is also a great supporter of the globalization of the contemporary art market.

Having studied Bcom PPE at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, Katherine fuelled her passion for the arts by participating in select courses at leading European Institutions such as the École des Beaux Arts in Paris in 2006. She went on to complete her Masters at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London in 2008. Katherine gained her experience and understanding of the contemporary art market through the time she spent working for a globally renowned art advisory firm based in London but wanting to be closer to the artists and exhibition side of the industry, she began her career at Simon Lee Gallery in 2009 where she really cut her teeth and has established her career. She has been educated and gained experience in a diversity of locations such as Cape Town, Paris, Florence, and London, and is now ready to bring her acquired knowledge and skills to Hong Kong.
Katherine bears an entrepreneurial nature, a cutting edge vision, and a dynamic spirit. She thrives in fastpaced and developing environments – as is offered in Hong Kong – and is excited to actively participate in this new milieu in Asia.
