TAKSU KL is proud to present Dua, the collaborative exhibition by Sabri Idrus (Malaysia) and Tony Twigg (Australia). Meeting at TAKSU Kuala Lumpur a long lunch turned into a profound discussion between the two artists. It was mid 2010 and it was a conversation around the kitchen table about abstraction and the shared belief in an inherent spirit within the object. The chat between Sabri and Tony has been rekindled through this exhibition Dua. It proposes a lived abstraction that sits outside the categorisation of boundaries or nation-based curating and occupies a shared ground of materiality and making.

Tony will be showing work that stretches back to his residency at Rimbun Dahan in 2004, a couple of pieces reworked and presented alongside works from his most recent Moon Bathing series. Sabri will be showing a suite of circular pieces made from found timbers during a residency in Bandung Indonesia, 2010. Coincidently, Sabri will be in residence at Rimbun Dahan next year.
