Ark Galerie was established in April 2007. In its early development Ark Galerie has gained a good reputation and been recognized as one of the most important galleries in Indonesia. At least 7 to 10 exhibitions have been held every year, from painting, print work, sculpture, video art to installations. One of the main goals of Ark Galerie is to promote and exhibit the works of Indonesian and other South East Asian artists in both national and international art scenes. In finding new talent, we believe that art works will always strongly connected to social context, thus best quality – which represented by strong concepts and visual forms – will always be our first consideration. Most of the rising stars and established artists have held their solo exhibitions at Ark galerie. To name a few, Christine Ay Tjoe, Eko Nugroho, Jompet Kuswidananto, Ronald Ventura, Wedhar Riyadi, Dewa Ratayoga, Tintin Wulia and so on.

Many of the artists exclusively represented by Ark have gained a tremendous recognition both within the national and International scope. They have been invited to many prestigious museum shows and international biennales. Moreover prestigious collectors and museums/ institutions worldwide are collecting their works. Ark have also participated in International art fairs, such as Scope Miami, Bridge Art fair New York, Art Taipei, Art Stage and Art HK.

The gallery is located on Jalan Senopati, South Jakarta. It resides in the 1960s building renovated in a modern contemporary design. The spaces within are reorganized in two-split level: one floor with Mexican handmade terracotta tiles, and the other level is a mix of white painted wood covering some floors. Ark Galerie, designed by a prominent architect in Indonesia, Andra Matin, have become a shelter of contemporary fine art in Indonesia.
